These are easy to pop and get cold quickly, but they only last for about 5 minutes and are no longer cold after that. For the price, you think they’d last a bit longer.

I ordered these because they were advertised at 4″x5″ but they are actually 6″x5″. I have not used these yet so I cannot review their quality.

The first time I needed to use an Instant Cold Pack, it was not an easy experience in order to get to Cold. I would squeeze according to the directions with immense pressure equally distributed around the circumference of the Pack, ( as an aside, I was a combat medic in VN and have been strength training since I came home. Ergo, I will attest to the durability of the Instant Cold Pack ) to continue, it was No Joy for Cold , even after I massaged the granules into place.
My second try was a lot more fruitful. Same pack, this was for the Church so I could not waste them. Same routine, but now, I really was aggressive with the movement of the granules and, after about a minute, The Eagle Had Landed ! Also, the pack stayed in tact, no tears or leaks, and the cold was really cold and remained usable to reduce pain and swelling.
Now, I am not advocating for an eight hour cold pack treatment. The normal rules for cold pack therapy are in place, of course. We do not want to reduce pain and cause frost damage to the skin. By staying cold for so long, eight hours by my timing, a break from use can be taken without having to use another pack when therapy is recontinued. By staying cold for so long, one pack can treat more than one site. Three different sites was the best I could do using 10-15 minute treatment time per site.
Now, I think that I have an answer to the people who found it a negative to have to manipulate the pack for so long before reaching an excellent level of cold; Please consider the following:
    1) The manipulation time will allow you to calm down and focus on something else besides the pounding in your head,
    2) also, it will give you a little time to talk to the Little One and calm his fear. After such a short time, one minute, you will be looked at as a magician.
    3) you have a little time to calmly eyeball the injured child and assess the damage and act accordingly.

This is an excellent product that I was going to scrap because it did do what I wanted fast enough. The extra time certainly led to long term usability and that is the BIG plus.

These work great. They are a nice size and stays cold for a good amount of time. I always have hot and cold packs (especially cold packs) on hand with me all of the time because my two kids play sports and if they aren’t getting injured, then someone around is. I purchased these ones to replace my last box and yes they have been sitting in the same place I put them under my sink since then. We just finished baseball season and I had only gone through half of the box. I went to see how many I had left in case we needed to order more and I had 2 good ones left. The 10 at the bottom of the box were already broken and not usable anymore. I could see one or maybe 2 from shipping, but 10 is a bit much. Other than not being happy that I have just about half a box of useless cold packs, I do recommend these. Just be sure to check your box when they arrive.

We needed these for our soccer team. Not the easiest to use and do seem to take a little longer to chill then other brands but have been put to good use. Even with the issues we would buy again at this price

Recently had foot surgery and needed to apply ice frequently to the area. I wasn’t allowed out of bed and was home alone most of the day so getting an ice pack from the freezer was out of the question. These was so convenient as I had them next to my bed and could grab one and activate it as often as needed.

First I have to say right off—THESE WORK! And get surprisingly colder than I thought they would! THEY DO WORK! BUT.. there’s a reason they show a pained wrist on the package because you almost cause injury to your hands, wrists and fingers trying to struggle and fight with it to get it to work!! (I think it’s their demented inside joke frankly). Not remotely overstating the struggle.. needing for an injured knee so I worked out and was in need of ice and bout broke into tears of frustration after 10 minutes of unsuccessfully fighting to get the “liquid pouch” inside to burst AND NOT GETTING RELIEF TO MY KNEE! After wanting to throw it against the wall and send them back.. I finally cut one open to see just what the heck I was attempting to accomplish — which is why I attached the picture to show… because it DOES help to know. Now for others it may not be so hard but I’m a small woman with small hands but I’m a strong athlete so I gave it a workout.. no luck! I folded where they said numerous times with no luck. I was shocked the outer plastic didn’t rip (which is also a good thing.. it is strong). SO, for me, my trick is to hold the pouch straight up to get the ‘powder rocks” to the bottom.. tap or feel where the liquid package is, and then TWIST/WRING the entire middle in opposite directions (like wringing out a towel)… VOILA! COLD! ICE COLD! The cold doesn’t last all that long but it’s COLD and for more than 20 min. I’m keeping bc they do work but I don’t think I’ll buy them again. It does need a design improvement for sure!
