Came with a pump and was easy for plumber to install. Super happy with it.

Was very excited when our icemaker was delivered; however come to find out that Scotsman “approved” repairmen/installers would NOT come out and install due to the fact it was brand new!! They would only come out if it needed a repair and they could file under warranty repair. Luckily my husband is very handy and was able to install himself. I like that it has a venting system at the front versus the back of the machine (less likely to overheat). The ice cubes are AWESOME. A bit noisy, but its an ice maker!!

Our first one did pretty well and lasted 10 years with only going to the shop 2x. This one makes ice, but it is super cloudy and is difficult to pick apart. It literally is one large ice chunks the size of the bin. Get a BIG ice pick if you get this machine. I don’t think it seals properly

I added a battery powered light which works well, but I feel like for the price, this should come with one built in.

Poor installation design. You have to thread the water supply line from the rear of the ice maker to the front to hook it up to the ice maker. It could have provided easy hook up to the water supply line in the rear where it belongs. The drain line is located in the middle of the bottom of the ice maker which makes it difficult to replace it. There is no interior light when you open the door. The ice cubes are large (about the size of a walnut). It makes a huge crashing noise when it dumps the ice. Likely to wake you up at night if you are asleep. But…it makes ice which is its primary purpose. Other than the above, installation was easy and it started producing ice within 30 minutes.

This machine always has a full bin of ice ready for use. When I first installed it, I could hear the machine running but it produced no ice. I re-read the directions and found a note that one of the parts frequently came out of position during transport and needed to be put back in place. I snapped it in and got the first ice in about 20 minutes. And it hasn’t stopped production.

I needed to replace my old DCE33, which finally quit cooling enough to make ice after possibly 38 yrs of service. This unit looks more refined, and makes 24 cubes/cycle vs. 8 for the old unit. It’s also quieter than the old unit, but it does make some sounds when running and pumping, and when dropping ice.

I put the unit into service the evening I received it, and it was full of ice by the next morning. The unit makes the same crystal-clear semi-conical ice as did the DCE33. An absolute must for gin and tonic!

The unit is covered in gleaming stainless steel, which looks pretty and ‘commercial’, although I would have been happy with a painted finish.

I’m counting on the Scotsman name to insure the availability of replacement parts, as required, to keep this unit in service as long as the old DCE33. This was a concern of mine when looking at some cheaper, foreign-made units.

I had read on many reviews that this ice maker was noisy upon first making ice, and YES IT IS. But after initial ice making , it is pretty quiet for the most part. I had read that most ice makers are all noisy anyway, so not a big deal. It seems to work good for now, but it is only three weeks old. I’ll keep you updated if issues arise!!
