I bought this on a whim not expecting super clear ice, but it turned out great on the first try. I used water from my Brita and got crystal clear ice.I haven’t tried other types of water but it says you can use filtered, boiled & cooled, bottled or distilled. I was surprised how easy it was to pull the silicone mould out as it looked like it wasn’t going to come out easily. Then I just had to knock off the ice on the outside of the mould which only took a whack against the sink. The white butter shell doesn’t take up too much freezer space.

Used filtered , TDS tested under 10. Still cloudy. Fun ice cubes though.

Does what is promised. Clear ice. Used boiled water that cooled. Left in freezer for about 24-30hrs.

    Presto! Clear ice.

Worked great… filled with hot-ish filtered water, set in the freezer and about 24 hours later, had two perfectly clear balls of ice! I used hot water to melt the residual ice and started over again. So far, 3 batches all the same. The only comments are that there are nipples on the top and bottom where the water enters and exits the mold, and one batch had a seam showing where the two haves met. Will work to make sure the two have are more tightly aligned to eliminate the seam. The nipples are small and I guess to be expected. A great value, IMO, for clear ice balls.

You will not get perfect clear ice unless you have the right kind of freezer or the air flow has to be indirect to the unit. At first I had it placed right in the center of the freezer in front of the fan and it froze quickly but the ice was only half clear. So I stuck it on the bottom rack and put things over it. It took about twenty four hours to freeze and much better results. This took some trial and error. Sadly the instructions don’t tell you this.

Its a good product but not as advertised. The ice balls aren’t clear all the way, and I did try tap, spring and distilled water. On the other side the ice balls do last but it still takes a long time to wait.
The manufacturer does include 2 bags to store 6 balls on each which is the best part of the deal to me and the base doesn’t takes too much space on the freezer.
Overall it’s a good product but not for what I was looking for, to produce some clear balls.

This item was a very good value. It does the job well enough, making 2 ice spheres overnight. That said, I still have not been able to render from it a perfectly clear sphere. I’ve tried hot water, cold water, filtered water, tap water, and some degree of bubbles or cloudiness always remains. The force required to break up the ice that forms on top worries me sometimes that I’ll break the handles pulling out the inner unit, but this has yet to happen. Also, the ice that is left in the bottom of it takes a while to melt down to the point that it can be removed, so turning around from removing completed spheres to starting new ones can sometimes take an hour or more. All the same, I do like this item, and it does well for the price I paid.

Still leaves a little bit of cloudiness on the bottom portion of the ice ball, but it’s mostly clear. Have tried double boiling water, keeping it at recommended temperature, etc. doesn’t make any difference.. still end up with a slight cloud on 1 end. One minor thing is that it spills easily when moving it to freezer… after you fill water to the full line and then insert the mold, the water is about spilling out the top… making it difficult to move from the counter/sink to the freezer.

Product is a bit pricey and I was uncertain about the performance and limited number of spheres produced each night. Experimented for the first several days and the clarity was far from my expectations. Finally followed the instructions to use spring water..heat it up to 122…and make sure you give it a full 24 hours to freeze. WOW…what a difference…spheres came our crystal clear and for 4 nights the same results. Be patient with first use and don’t try to force the mold out of the container. Wiggle it and gently rock back and forth till it gives way. Make sure you warm up the mold and container before adding the 120° spring water. I found this to add to the clarity.
All in all nice. The bags for storage were good but the #1 position should be at the slider opening so you don’t have to fully unzip to get the oldest sphere. Maybe just me but I consider #1 to be the next sphere to remove. Will probably adjust and then consider #6 as the oldest sphere.
If the price was about $15 I would probably buy another one. But just too pricey for what I use it for.
Big ice sphere so they take up a good 3-4oz in the glass to if you are measuring complex drinks..probably need at least a 12 if not 16oz glass to pour the drink in.

Does everything its suppose to. Alittle hard to get out after frozen but never once broke the spheres. Great with anything soda, alcohol, water. Not beer though. Oh and for clear spheres use filterrd water. They come out frosted but once you add liquid over you can see through. Very nice.
