These are perfect not only for my husbands bourbon but my sangria as well. So easy to use and freeze quickly. Keep some extra frozen ice balls in a freezer bag. Just perfect!

This is our 2nd set of Tovolo sphere molds. They are easy to use and are excellent for an Old Fashion!

I bought these when I got obsessed with making Negronis (Lovely cocktail). I like my drinks cold but strong so I wanted some ice that would melt relatively slowly. These ice moulds produce very good looking round balls of ice. If you want, you can also include berries or mint leafs in the ice which looks rather cool. You should note however that the balls really are quite big. If you only have a small glass they either won’t fit, or you end up with no space for the drink.

use for the dogs, not my drinks. My intention was for my honey bourbon, but when I used the ice ball, it rolled into my face as I was drinking from the glass, and it got all over me. Now I use them for the dogs! they love them!

Hate to be critical of a fun little gadget. It works ok, but a little glitchy.
After making a few rounds of ice balls, the lids don’t seat to the base anymore. I fill water to the appropriate line, put the silicone lid on and it immediately slides up 1/4 to1/2 inch. The result is a round bottom ice ball with a flat top. Not a deal breaker, just annoying. The only way to make the ball completely round is to put weight on the mold when I put them in the freezer. That keeps the silicone lid from sliding, and they come out round and fine.
Still fun to have almost round ice balls.

So I have made three sets of spheres with this guy! First set as an idiot and just put straight tap water in and let them freeze, 2nd boiled water and let them freeze like an idiot and third time boiled water with a set freeze time. Needless to say this IS one of those occasions where you NEED to read the directions for quality of use!

The boiled wat with said allotted time turns out the best! Yes it is a pain but if you enjoy your booze you will be doing this as well! If you don’t or you don’t care you fall into one of two camps; 1. you have more money than gods green earth which in such case why are you not paying someone to do this for you. IE, make ice spheres for you. You are trying to stretch your booze budget to really maximize flavor and value!

It takes time to get good with these but the end result is good if you take time and do it right! I have seen the negative reviews here and these are people NOT doing what you are supposed to do! If you get them and play around with them you will say the same thing!

For this price point it is well worth the money and the extra time needed for pretty damn good spheres! They take up so little space and in 36 hours or less you have perfect spheres! Why do you need more than two a night? Booze hound!

Pros: does deliver results IF you read directions and follow YouTube videos!

    No center sphere splits, SOLID!

Small and fits in your freezer no problem!

    Cons: sheer time!

    You have to read directions!

You get it wrong more than right at first

The prep needed is greater than most!

They work as expected. You get nice ice balls from them. Just to be clear (very intended pun), you won’t get clear ice from these. That requires a different process. I’m just saying, since some people think these can be used for it. If you want nice icey balls for your drink (somewhat clouded, as your ordinary ice usually is), go ahead and click that button. Cheers!

I don’t know what sort of weirdness is going on in my life at the moment, but currently I have been watching ‘Still Game’ on the train to work. This has made me want to try malt whiskey. I have to have spirit with ice although I think whiskey drinkers may disagree, anyhow! I saw on youtube that to make ‘clear’ ice you need to perform ‘directional freezing’ so when these turned up, I filled them up, stuck them in the freezer then pondered how, on my next go I was going to try to insulate them to get ‘my balls’ clear. IMAGINE MY JOY when I just took my balls out and rolled them in my hands, perfectly clear!
    Oh happy times xxx

I have several Ice Sphere forms, they all suck except this one. These are simple, not wasteful of filtered water, and do not require filling through the little hole in the top. A smart design.

The beauty of these large ice spheres is that they cool your drink but, as they take an age to dissolve, they dilute your it only slightly. These moulds produce perfect spheres of ice that pop right out and don’t split in half when drink is added.

I love having these big ice balls in my cup that don’t melt very fast. I have found them easy to detach by running them under hot water for half a minute – first the bottom then the side. Easy peasy.

I bought these as a bit of a novelty item to enjoy with drinks. They do appear to be pricey for what are effectively ice cube makers, but the results are fantastic. I read numerous reviews about many similar items and eventually chose these as the reviews were more positive. They do not dissapoint, no leaks but they do need to be placed with the top facing upwards otherwise they would. Take around 2hrs to freeze the outside with liquid in the centre that can look quite effective and maybe 10 to 12 hrs to be solid. The spheres are relatively easy to remove with a quick squeeze of the plastic and then a push on the silcon top. I store the spheres in clingfilm which permits me to have a stock going, a stock is required as everyone wants one so be prepared. The spheres last for around 2hrs in shorts (several) and loose shape after about 1hr. They do keep the liquid cool and add to the enjoyment. I use them in standard tumbler glasses and they fit just right, anything smaller and they would not go in. I find that the best method of having clear spheres is to boil filtered water permit to cool, place in fridge overnight then into the mould and top shelf of the freezer. Slower cooling seems to work best. Without the previous process the cubes are never clear all the way through. Several people who have seen the spheres have gone on to buy these for themselves. I would recommend these to anyone.
