With 9 family members and everyone puts ice in their drinks during summer and we use a lot of ice to ice animals we process down we started looking for a cheap ice maker. This one fit the bill. 90% of the time it works great, makes lots of ice and is an overall great machine. Some days it’s possessed and melts it’s own ice and blinks for no reason.

Very simple to operate, plug in, pour in water ( sugguest filtered of some kind ) turn on. Light is steady lite when ON, Blinks when OFF. ( I never found that in manual ) Cleaning function is very simple, takes less than 5 minutes, dump using plug in bottom and refill. Manual could be better written. Ice cubes come out a bit soft after the heating process to remove the ice cubes from the forms. They firm up in freezer but tend to freeze together, easily broken apart. All Ice makers of this type are going to have same issues. Ice itself is everybit as good as store bought ice. Photos Although unscienefic I did a time test to fill up ice container. I first emptied water and did cleaning on unit. I refilled unit with water and started stopwatch, I show the empty basket, next are the 1st, 2nd, and 4th batches of ice. I forgot to take photo of third, the full light had come on . Photo four shows all the times for the 4 baskets of ice make in 4hours. Some of ice cubes did come out stuck together. The fifth photo is the full ice container in freezer. It wasn’t quite empty to start with. Best advise keep filtered water handy, don’t overfill unit ( stay about 1/2 inch below Max ) Give right side of unit plenty of room for ventalation, it puts out heat when making ice after a while. Unit is very quiet though It is a very good unit, I am well pleased with the purchase. I would recommend it, it does only make one size ice cube, but the clean feature and bottom drain are very handy. Unit is very heavy, some may not be able to lift it, but draining could be done over edge of counter into a pan using drain. The book and plate on the unit differ on how much electricity it uses ( wattage) I hope to be able to supply and answer to this later. ( I hope to make my own measurements )

I decided to buy this machine since our fridge (not even 5 years old) wasn’t making much ice and the cubes tasted metallic (mold is metal). The replacement part is over $150 so this machine was a cheaper solution. After a few days of use I am very happy! It does what it said it would do – makes great tasting bullet cubes in less than 10 minutes. The pros are that the ice tastes great (I tried both tap and filtered, no difference) and it’s easy to use. The only cons are it’s not a freezer (nor does it claim to be) and the ice is a lot smaller than fridge ice but it’s softer and easier to chew (if you like that). It looks nice on the counter but it does blow warm air out the right side so don’t put anything near it. Overall I found it quiet when on (like a fan) and when the ice is released. I did wipe out the machine first with lemon water in case there was a plastic smell and I waited a few hours like the directions said. It takes about 4 cups of water in the reservoir but make sure it’s slightly below the max line or the ice ends up sitting in water and melts fast. The first few batches are small until the machine chills the water. But the set of nine cubes fills up half a 16 ounce glass. It takes about 2 1/4 hours for it to use the water up but don’t wait till the ice bin is full because I noticed it starts melting after 10 minutes. (But that’s a fun job for the kids to scoop it out or just dump the basket.) After filling the reservoir twice I can fill up a gallon Ziploc bag. So I did run the machine about 8 hours to get 2 gallon bags of ice. But I was surprised for a family of five living in Florida it lasted a few days. I did try to pour freezer water into the reservoir (thinking it would make ice faster) but that just made larger cubes that sometimes stuck together. I like the smaller ice because it fits into water bottles and it’s easier to break up. The plastic scoop that comes with it is a nice size and good quality. Overall I’m very happy with the product because I have great tasting ice, it will come in handy for parties (if we ever have those again) and it will be a life saver if we have a hurricane (just hook it up to the generator).

The ULIT counter top ice maker was my Valentine’s gift from my husband, and it was the best gift ever. It was packaged well and snugly in the box from the company, also all parts were in the box with the instructions I read the instructions before use, they were easy to understand. I wiped out the the inside of the ice maker with a wet cloth no soap, but I did hand wash the tray and scoop. I filled the bottom reservoir of the maker with tap water.. the instructions say to not use distilled water, but mineral water is okay. I ran one whole reservoir and dumped the ice to make sure all the parts were dust free and as clean as could be before using the ice. The same as I would do for a built in ice maker in the freezer. I filled the reservoir again with just tap water and the ice tasted fine, no plastic after taste. The ULIT ice maker made solid bullet shaped ice cubes very quickly, I believe in less than 10 minutes we had enough ice for 3 regular size glasses of tea and the ice cubes were very solid not soft or quick melting. The enclosed scoop made getting the ice out of the basket easy, and the basket is removable if you want to dump the ice into something else to store in your freezer. I did turn it off and let the ice melt back into the reservoir over night and I turn it back on for day time use. I dump the ice to empty out the reservoir and wipe it out before refilling so I don’t reuse the same water more than 2 days just to keep the water fresh. All in all, I love the ice maker and if you need a ice maker for camping or home this is the best out there. It is portable so taking in the camper will be easy. Just plug it in, pour in the water and you are ready to go. Great product, great company and really worth the money.
